McCorkindale To Perform At UUCD Jazz Night

DANBURY — The Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Danbury will host an exciting evening of jazz in an intimate venue.  On Saturday, May 6, song stylist Cynthia McCorkindale and The Vladimiroff Trio will perform an array of jazz classics at the UUCD Fellowship Hall, 24 Clapboard Ridge Road. The performance will begin at 8 pm.

Ms McCorkindale performs in New York and Connecticut, and has appeared in a variety of venues including New York’s Birdland and London’s Cafe Royal. She has shared the stage with jazz luminaries including Dave Brubeck, Chris Brubeck, Michael deMicco, Bill Mays, Linc Chamberland, Michael Moore, Ted Rosenthal, Terry Clarke, Jay Leonhardt and has also sung under the direction of Lukas Foss, Russell Gloyd and for the New York City Opera.

Ms McCorkindale recently completed her first solo CD, Meant To Be Blue, which was produced, engineered and mixed by the Grammy Award-winning producer Elliot Scheiner. She will return in concert this summer at Music Mountain in Falls Village, where she has appeared for the last eight years. A resident of Bethel, she is also the mezzo soloist at Trinity Episcopal Church in Newtown.

Her restrained, classic style is reminiscent of Peggy Lee and Billie Holiday. Dave Bruebek has said that “Cynthia McCorkindale can be very proud of her impressive debut recording. She sings wonderful classic songs, sounds great performing them in an intimate and highly personal style, and surrounds herself with first-rate musicians.”

At UUCD, she will in fact be backed by an accomplished trio of musicians. Pianist Maxim Vladimiroff is an active piano accompanist, comfortable playing almost any style of music.

A staple of the tri-state jazz scene, Nicholas Misch has been an active bassist since 1991.  His experience in many styles of music puts him in demand as one of the areas top music professionals.

After touring nationally for several years, drummer Ron Vincent he has become a veteran of the New York City jazz scene.

Tickets for the show are $15 and can be purchased at the door or reserved through email at VladTix506@aol.com. For directions or additional information visit UUDanbury.org or call 798-1994.
