SCAN Spring Show

Opens This Weekend

The Society of Creative Arts of Newtown, Inc. (SCAN) will be holding its 36th Annual Juried Spring Art Show at the Cyrenius H. Booth Library in Newtown. The exhibition will run from April 30 until May 7, during regular library hours.

The show will exhibit more than 150 works of art in oil, watercolor, pastel, acrylic, graphics, printmaking, mixed media and sculpture. The show is open to all artists.

The entries will be judged by the award-winning artists Patricia Billeci, Ellie Bender, and Roger Kastel.

An opening reception and awards ceremony will be held on Sunday, April 30, from 2 to 4 pm. This year’s awards ceremony will start at 3, and is also held in the library’s lower meeting room.

The award for Best In Show is the Larry Newquist Award, which carries a cash prize of $300. In addition, there are over $1,000 in cash awards and merchandise prizes. Refreshments will be served and all are welcome to attend. Admission is free for the reception and, also all week during the show.
