DERBY â The Connecticut Department of Environmental Protectionâs Kellogg Environmental Center offers bird walks every first and third Saturday of the month for new and experienced birders and families.
Kellogg Environmental Center volunteer Jay Connolly will conduct the morning walks in search of summer nesting birds at the Kellogg Estate and Osbornedale State Park including an Orchard Oriole nesting in one of the parking lot trees.
To participate, meet at the Kellogg Environmental Center parking lot at 7 am on Saturday, July 2, July 16, August 6, and/or August 20. On September 3 and 17, walks will begin at 7:30.
Participants are encouraged to bring binoculars and field guides. Osbornedale State Park/Kellogg Estate Bird Checklists will be provided free to participants.
Kellogg Environmental Center is adjacent to Osbornedale State Park in Derby. These programs are free and registration is not required.
Call 734-2513 between 9 am and 4:30 pm Tuesday through Saturday for directions. The Kellogg Environmental Center is at 500 Hawthorne Avenue.
