Harvest Fundraiser Will Be
A Big Night For NSA & Students
To the Editor:
We invite you to join us on Saturday, October 6, from 6:30 to 9 pm, when the Newtown Scholarship Association will host its first annual Harvest Wine and Beer Tasting fundraiser at Rock Ridge Country Club in Newtown, sponsored by Peopleâs United Bank.Â
The event will feature spectacular wines and specialty beers from among the worldâs best wineries and breweries. Wines and beers will be available to taste at the event, and to purchase at reduced prices through the wine and liquor stores mentioned below. A portion of all sales will benefit the NSA, which provides need-based scholarships and continuing aid to high school graduates from Newtown enrolled in four-year colleges.
Some of the eveningâs featured wines include Shingleback, Bogle, the wines of Wente Vineyards and Michael Davis Winery, new selections from Italyâs Tuscany, Piedmont, and Veneto regions, and the California wines of Westport native Kevin Riley. Hearty hors dâoeuvres will be served throughout the evening. Adding to the fun will be both a live and silent auction.
Tickets are $35 per person and can be purchased at the following locations: Newtown Savings Bank, Main Street branch; Peopleâs United Bank, Big Y Shopping Center branch; The Newtown Bee; Sandy Hook Wine and Liquors; Taunton Wine & Liquor; Yankee Discount Wine & Liquors; and Shop & Save Wine and Liquors.Â
This is a great opportunity to shop and stock up for the holidays while supporting an outstanding Newtown organization. This year the NSA celebrates its 70th year of helping make the dream of a higher education a reality for many of Newtownâs young people.
We look forward to seeing you there!
