Summer Programs At Osborne Homestead Museum
DERBY â The Osborne Homestead Museum is offering a variety of programs this summer.
The next one, The Legend and Lore of Flowers,â will be offered on Sunday, July 9, and Friday, August 11.
Participants will explore the legends and folklore surrounding our native flora. Tours will take visitors through the Kellogg Estate gardens and the Osborne Homestead Museum so that visitors can learn the details of how literature uses flowers to explain our place in the world. The free program will begin at 1 pm and registration is not necessary.
âPenmanship at the Turn of the Century,â on Saturday, July 22, and Saturday, August 19 (each date is a one-day class), will also be offered.
In the age of emails and computers, it is so enjoyable to receive a handwritten letter. Attendees will learn about the styles of penmanship during the 1800s and 1900s, learning how using slants, strokes and circles can make handwriting more graceful.
The class, which will take place from 10:30 am until noon, is free and is geared for ages 9 years old and older. Register by calling 734-2513.
Osborne Homestead Museum is located at 500 Hawthorne Avenue in Derby (off Route 34).
