Jane Grant Mathison Wieler

Pleasant And Generous

Jane Grant (Mathison) Wieler, a resident of Shrewsbury, Mass., died suddenly in the loving company of her children, August 7. She was a resident of Newtown from 1955 to 1973. Ms Wieler was born in 1929 in Wheeling, W.Va., to John Joseph and Mildred McNally Mathison, the youngest of five Mathison children. 

She was the devoted wife of William Aloise Wieler, beloved husband of 54 years, who died in January 2010. She is survived by her children, James Grant, Nancy Curran, William Edward Wieler, and Mary Kathleen Wieler; and ten grandchildren. She also leaves dear longtime friends and in-laws, Joanne and Charles Warren. Ms Wieler was predeceased by four siblings.

She was a graceful and loving mother who enjoyed and contributed to the arts in each community in which she lived, and was a gifted singer and artist. She was an active member of the Society of Creative Arts in Newtown, and the Newtown Town Players, and later the Bedford, Mass., arts community and the Community Players. She was a talented set designer and was well known for her watercolors and pencil drawings. She was also an active member of the Cape Cod Curling Club in Falmouth. 

A funeral mass was celebrated August 12. She was interred, along with her husband, at the National Cemetery in Bourne, after the funeral.
