New Craft Center Exhibition
BROOKFIELD â âRe-Collected/Re-Invented: The Narrative Craft Object,â in Brookfield Craft Centerâs Lynn Tendler Bignell Gallery, will remain on view until October 9.
The show was curated by the noted metalsmith Linda Kaye-Moses of Pittsfield, Mass., and features work by 16 artists made of (or containing elements that are fashioned from) found objects and recycled materials.
According to Judith Russell, gallery director at BCC, âMost of the one-of-a-kind pieces on display have been made especially for this show, and they express each artistâs interpretation of the concept of ârecycled,â either in terms of materials, imagery, memories or stories.
âThese highly narrative, sculptural pieces encourage the viewer to re-examine their own concepts of âusedâ and âdiscarded,ââ she added.
Work in the show includes jewelry, sculpture and two-dimensional artwork, all of which involve multi-media elements. Printed versions of some of the artistâs âstoriesâ will also be on display.
The participating artists are Harriete Estel Berman, Gail Beveridge, Kathleen Browne, Janet Cooper, Robert Dancik, Jeff Georgantes, Miriam Kaye, Keith LoBue, Nancy Moyer, Gail Rieke, Tomas Savrda, Kara Tennis, Jeannie Thomma, Alan Burton Thompson, J. Fred Woell and Rick Wyrick.
Brookfield Craft Center is at 286 Whisconier Road (Route 25), just east of the âfour cornersâ intersection with Route 7/202.
