Cannon Grange Fair This Month

WILTON — Cannon Grange 152 will hold its 71st Annual Agricultural Fair on the Grange Hall grounds on Sunday, August 24, from 10 am to 4 pm, rain or shine. Cannon Grange is at 25 Cannon Road, just off US Rt 7.

Admission to the fair is $2, and free for children 12 and under. Free parking is available at nearby Allen’s Meadows and at Cannondale Railroad Station.

Highlights of the fair will include judged exhibits and competitions in baked goods, homegrown fruits and vegetables, flowers, crafts and collections, photography, sewing and needlework, poultry, fowl, eggs and rabbits.

There will also be a tag sale, baked goods sale, Cannon Grange souvenirs, and a grocery basket raffle. Civic and educational exhibits will be displayed on the grounds.

A local antique tractor club will display a variety of different models, all in mint condition.

There will be adult and junior baking contests, a quilt contest, and a two-crust apple pie contest.

Other attractions will include concessionaires, a snack tent, and children’s games.  A working oxen show will be presented in the early afternoon, as will a watermelon-eating contest for youth, teens, and adults. Local talent will provide music and entertainment throughout the day.
