Connecticut Audubon Bus Trip

To Harvard

On Wednesday, December 5, Connecticut Audubon Society will sponsor a day trip to the Museum of Cultural and Natural History at Harvard University to see the Ware collection of Baschka glass models of plants, popularly known as “The Glass Flowers.”

Commissioned by the renowned artisans Leopald and Rudolf Baschka, the collection still serves as an adjunct to teaching biology, while also attracting worldwide public interest. The approximately 3,000 models, created from 1887 to 1936, represent more than 840 species, each recreated in a scientifically accurate form. This collection is the only one of its kind in the world.

Participants will enjoy a privately guided tour of the collection and have time to visit the rest of the museum. The morning and lunchtime will be spent at Quincy Market, an area of Boston full of interesting shops and eateries.

Call 800-996-8747 for reservations and details or visit the Connecticut Audubon website for more information at www.CTAudubon.org.
