‘E.T.’ Showing To Benefit DAWS

BETHEL — Bethel Cinema will host a special, one-time showing of E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial on Saturday, August 26, at 10 am, at 269 Greenwood Avenue. Proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to Danbury Animal Welfare Society, Inc (DAWS). Tickets will be $6 for all ages.

The PG-rated 1982 film, directed by Steven Spielberg, won four Oscars and has not been shown locally in a theater for years. It is the story of an alien, E.T., who becomes stranded on Earth. A 10-year-old boy, Elliot, finds E.T. and the two become friends. E.T. is lonely, however, and wants to go home. Elliot struggles with wanting to help his new friend yet now wanting to lose him and ultimately learns the true meaning of friendship.

DAWS is a volunteer-based nonprofit organization serving the greater Danbury area since 1974 by caring for abused, neglected and stray animals. The society maintains an animal shelter in Bethel, at 147 Grassy Plain Street.
