Days Of Caring
Volunteers Thanked
To the Editor:
Many thanks to the volunteers and donors involved in the 13th annual United Way of Western Connecticutâs Days of Caring. We had a great show of support in Newtown as four projects took place involving over 40 volunteers from four generous companies.
Overall this year, more than 1,000 volunteers from local businesses and corporations took part in a variety of projects that included painting, gardening, cleaning, and even party planning. Over 40 agencies benefited from the work, and in addition to Newtown, volunteers completed projects in Bethel, Brookfield, Danbury, Kent, New Fairfield, New Milford, and Ridgefield!
Through their participation, each and every volunteer learned firsthand about the organizations that provide important human services to our community throughout the year. Our thanks to the local companies and schools that recognize the value of supporting their employees and students in this effort!
On this one Day of Caring alone, volunteers collectively donated over 150,000 work hours, valued at close to $200,000!
Our Days of Caring event kicks off United Wayâs annual campaign season. Iâd like to remind the community that when you contribute to United Way, you are making an investment in programs and initiatives that demonstrate results.
Thanks again to all the volunteers who gave of their time during the Days of Caring and to all our community organizations that work at improving lives every day of the year.
