Blood Drive At Trinity May 31

Memorial Day weekend marks the unofficial start of summer. It also marks the start of summer blood collection shortages due to vacations and hot weather.

According to the American Red Cross, the need for blood is constant, and the only way to help alleviate blood shortages in Connecticut this summer is to give the gift of life at blood drives in the state in the coming days.

A blood drive will be held in Newtown on Tuesday, May 31, from 8:30 am to 6:45 pm, at Trinity Church, 36 Main Street.

Anyone who is in generally good health, age 17 or older, and weighs 110 pounds or more is probably eligible to give blood. Call 800-GIVE LIFE (800-448-3543) to make an appointment for this or any other blood drive in Connecticut. Appointments can also be requested by visiting www.BloodCT.org.

Positive ID is required at the time of a blood donation.

All blood collected at this blood drive goes to the community blood supply, maintained by the American Red Cross Connecticut Blood Services Region, for the benefit of anyone in need of blood or blood products at the state’s 31 transfusing hospitals.
