Newtown Plaza Invites All To

1st Annual Block Party

Plaza South in Newtown will host its first annual block party Saturday, March 31, from 11 am to 4 pm. Union Savings Bank, 274 South Main Street, will serve as the block party starting point, providing plaza passports that will be stamped by all participating businesses, a raffle and the opportunity for a free photo with the Easter Bunny.

Activities at various businesses throughout the day include free face painting, arts and crafts, a fire truck and race car display, wine tasting and bouncy house. Bubbles the elephant will join in the festivities.

The Danbury Animal Welfare Society will also be at the event with animals available for adoption.

Sweet Mango and the DOrazio Sisters Bakery will be offering free samples. Other participating restaurants include Subway, which is offering one free foot-long sandwich with the purchase of another foot-long and a 30-ounce fountain soda special.

Pub 25 will host a free pig roast. Attendees can work off the snacks at Z Place, offering free Zumba and other demonstrations at 11:30 am, 1, and 3 pm.

The party ends at Good Ideas, where attendees can submit their stamped passports for a chance to win the plaza raffle for a basket full of prizes.
