In a story last week about the Newtown Charter Revision Commission’s attempt to correct an idiosyncrasy in the school board’s nominating and election process, The Bee incorrectly reported that every year Board of Education candidates appear on the ballot, two candidates from each major party can be elected.

Since the current charter permits Democrats and Republicans to nominate more candidates than can be seated in any election cycle, and stipulates the number of candidates from each major party alternates two-to-one during each election cycle, only three candidates in total can be seated during any local election year.
