Rotary Seeking Applicants For Year Scholarship Abroad
Rotary Seeking Applicants For Year Scholarship Abroad
The Rotary Club of Newtown is accepting applications for Rotary International Scholarships for study abroad.
Scholars are expected to be good ambassadors for Rotary and the United States in the foreign country and upon their return are expected to be ambassadors for the country where they served their scholarships. Successful students will be expected to have speaking engagements here and abroad. All these programs support Rotaryâs theme of âWorld Peace through People Understanding.â
An Ambassadorial Scholarship is available for one academic year of study in a foreign university. Cultural Scholarships are available for three months of intensive foreign language study abroad. The one year program will be funded up to $25,000 and the three-month study can cover up to $12,000.
Applicants are also being sought for the Rotary World Peace Scholarship, which covers a two-year masterâs program in peace studies, conflict resolutions at one of seven Rotaryâs Centers for International Peace. Only 70 of these scholarships are available each year, and competition is on a worldwide basis.
This is the fourth year of this scholarship, which is designed to help those who are interested in going into Foreign Diplomatic Service and a number of those who finished the course are already involved.
Successful scholars of these three categories will be assigned a Rotarian counselor in the place of study who will provide orientation and advice.
