January Programs Announced For Love & Knishes Lunches
SOUTHBURY â Three spirited piano programs and a âDialogue With the Docsâ talk are on the menu for all area adults aged 60 and over who are invited to enjoy lunch and entertainment on Tuesdays at the Love & Knishes Lunch Program of the Federation-Jewish Communities of Western Connecticut.
Programs take place in the social hall at the Walzer Family Jewish Community Campus, 444 Main Street North. The food is freshly prepared each week by personal chef Heather Bingham and features healthful meals with everything from organic mesclun salad to dessert. Lunch is served at noon and programs start at 1 pm.
Lunch reservations should be made by Friday for the following week. All programs are open to the public, and there is a suggested lunch donation of $5.50.
On January 9, âFeet Firstâ will be the topic of Dr David Mader, a podiatrist at Family Footcare, who will discuss both general and diabetic foot health care, problems and diabetic neuropathy, and will happily answer individual questions from the audience.
On January 16, a Golden Oldies Lunch Date will feature pianist Marion Bellâs music during lunch. This walk down memory lane will include show tunes, some Gershwin, and a few short classical pieces.
On January 23, pianist Mark Focarile, a talented young Southbury musician and recent Western Connecticut State University grad, will play a combination of classical, jazz, and original compositions.
The January 30 âTrumpet and Piano Blastâ will feature trumpeter Bucky Milam and pianist Ethel Kaufman playing favorite old standards from the 1940s and 1950s.
For reservations, call Debby Horowitz, Brownstein Jewish Family Service director, at 267-3177 extension 105. In case of cancellation due to snow, a message will be left at that number.
