Communication Is The Connecting Subject Of Short Plays At Westconn

DANBURY — A series of ten-minute plays about language, communication and misunderstanding will be staged by the Western Connecticut State University theatre arts department and CenterStage this weekend.

Performances will be at 8 pm on Friday, January 26; 2 and 8 pm on Saturday, January 27; and at 3 pm on Sunday, January 28, in the Reimold Theatre, in Berkshire Hall on Osborne Street (on the university’s midtown campus). Tickets are $5 (free for WestConn students).

The plays, assembled in the production “Said and Meant,” were written by playwright Randy Wyatt. Among them are Words Won’t Help You Here, The Essential Components of Marriage, Bob I Want You, Depart Mental, The Darryl, Edna Discovers That One Thing About Herself That Makes All the Difference, The Sweet Sounds of Shutting Up, A Tutorial and #2 Awkward Silences.

The cast includes WestConn theatre arts students Mary Robertshaw of Westport; Bijhan Clarke of Ridgefield; Anthony DePoto of Danbury; Frank Beaudry of Oakville; Drea Jimenez of North Salem, N.Y.; and WCSU theatre arts alumnus Tom Farrell of Bethel.

The crew includes Erik Tonner as director, Tiffany DeMici and Tyler Donahue as producers, Tom Farrell as stage manager; with lighting by Pat White and sound by Pete Tamaro.
