Police Charge Weston Man In Internet Sex Case

Police have arrested a Weston man, charging him with three counts of allegedly using a computer to entice a minor to engage in sexual activity, according to Police Chief Michael Kehoe.

On January 26, police arrested Robert Borowik, 43, of Weston on the charges, Chief Kehoe said.

“This investigation involved communications through the use of computers whereby an arrest warrant was issued by Danbury Superior Court,” he said. The police investigation conducted by Detective Jason Frank started last November.

After arrest processing on the morning of January 26, police held Borowik on $50,000 bail for court arraignment on the charges later that day.

Chief Kehoe declined to comment on the specifics of the police investigation. “The police within Connecticut take these matters very seriously,” he said.

According to state law, “A person is guilty of enticing a minor when such person uses an interactive computer service to knowingly persuade, induce, entice or coerce any person under 16 years of age to engage in prostitution or sexual activity for which the actor may be charged with a criminal offense.” The charge is a felony.

Since last August, Borowik’s arrest is the fourth such arrest that police have made against out-of-town men who allegedly used the Internet in seeking to have sexual contact with underage persons in Newtown. The other men are from Southbury, Woodbury, and Bloomfield.

The four criminal cases reportedly involve men who unknowingly had Internet communications with a Newtown police officer who was posing as a nonexistent minor.
