Rock And Roll Race May Be

One For The Record Books

Have you ever wanted your name in the record books? Well, here is your chance to make history. In an effort to raise money for cancer research, students from Newtown High School will be attempting to break the Guinness World Record for The Most People Simultaneously Rolling Tires. Currently the world record stands at 237 tires being rolled at the same time.

The event called the “Rock and Roll Race and Barbeque,” will be held at Newtown High School, in the back parking lot on Saturday, June 18m at 11 am. A participation fee of $5 covers admission and a tire to roll. Town Fair Tire is sponsoring the event and all proceeds will go to the Relay For Life, which is a major fundraiser for the American Cancer Society. The next overnight Relay For Life event will be held in Newtown on June 10–11.

Those wishing to participate in the event may sign up in the high school cafeteria on Wednesday, June 15, through Friday, June 17. All are encouraged to participate to help support a great cause and to help assure Newtown’s place in the record books.
