NHS World Language Honor Society Induction Ceremony

Newtown High School students were inducted into World Language Honor Societies during a ceremony held in the school’s cafetorium on Wednesday, November 30. During the ceremony students were inducted into the Chinese Honor Society, the Soiètè Française, Societas Latina, Societá Onoraria Italica, and the Sociedad Honoraria Hispanica.

First Selectman Pat Llodra was the guest speaker for the event. World Language Department Chair Paula Greenfield gave the opening remarks for the evening.

Students inducted into the Chinese Honor Society were Kate Bartel, Marina Lleonart-Calvo, and Karan Marwah. NHS exchange teacher Ding Hong acted as the presiding officer for the announcement.

Students inducted into the Soiètè Française were Molly Arneth, Danielle Chaloux, Laura Hunter, Andrew Jensen, Pieter Martino, Kylie Moyle, Adam Oelberg, Aidan Pelisson, and Gracie Whitaker. Presiding officers for the announcement during the ceremony were NHS students Lucy Riley and Bri Hart.

Students inducted into the Societas Latina were Emily Ashbolt, Robert Beier, Claire Benson, Rachel DiVanno, Lauren Frazzetto, Hunter French, Bri Hart, Anna Hodge, Donald Morrissey, Aidan Pelisson, Emily Peters, Sam Rohrbacher, Gavin Scallon, and Luiza Tollkuci. Kevin Grady acted as the presiding officer during the announcement of students.

Students inducted into the Societá Onoraria Italica were John Corsi, Ben Galassi, Dana Greenfield, Mikaela Kemsley, Sheridan Marmo, Kyra Murray, and Sage Musk. The presiding officer for the announcement was Melania Fitzgerald.

Students inducted into the Sociedad Honoraria Hispanica during the evening were Mergim Bajraliu, Lydia Beiter, Emma Briscoe, Kristen Campbell, Reagan Cerney, Colby Chilson, Neil Davis, Natalie Dieckman, Chris Erikson, Colleen Fahy, Jessica Gibbons, Maddy Good, Michelle Green, Rachel Karnoff, Yossi Kohrman-Glaser, Sam Langdon, Troy Larsen, Vikram Makayee, Sally Martinelli, Lauren Meyer, Shannon O’Gorman, Kelly O’Sullivan, Anthony Pagett, Michelle Rekofsky, Alex Roche, Stephanie Roman, Nicole Rothenbucher, Gavin Scallon, David Swigart, Julia Trudell, Mary Vodola, and Morgan Winters. Students Lexi Black and Liz Eiseman acted as presiding officer during the announcement.
