Recycling Hauler Appeals Fine

Fred Pendergast, Jr has been granted a hearing before the Board of Selectmen

to appeal the $250 fine he recently received from the town.

Mr Pendergast, who picks up the majority of the town's curbside recyclable

material, was recently cited by the first selectman's office based on

complaints from residents. They claimed he failed to make some pickups and was

verbally abusive on the phone.

The town's right to levy fines against Mr Pendergast is stated in the

operator's contract.

The hearing will be held May 3, at 7 pm, at the Cyrenius Booth Library.
