Rodman W.
Pruefer
Compassionate
And Loving
Rodman W. Pruefer, 72, of Sandy Hook, died peacefully in his home, June 5, after a courageous 15-year battle with oral cancer. He was born in Boston, October 9, 1938, the son of Dorothy (Deahy) and Irving R. Pruefer. His devoted wife and caregiver, Dolores, was at his side.
Mr Pruefer was a man of integrity, wisdom, compassion, and humor, and was a loving and devoted husband of 39 years to his wife.
He grew up in Cranston, R.I., and was a US Army veteran, having served in the helicopter service in the beautiful state of Alaska â a place he truly loved. He was employed by both Sikorsky Aircraft and the NCR Corporation.
Mr Pruefer was an avid woodworker all of his life, and made many beautiful things for his wife. Upon his retirement, he started his own business, making wooden toys. He was also building the boat of his dreams, which he was never able to complete. He enjoyed boating, designing, reading, and cheering for the New York Yankees.
His wife would like to thank both Dee Brockmeier and Dr Abhijith Hegde for their compassionate care throughout her husbandâs long illness.
A prayer service took place June 8. Entombment was in the Saint Peter Cemetery Mausoleum, Danbury.
