Girls C/D

The Stride 2, Stallions 1 – Megan McGowan scored two goals to lead the Stride. Terrific defensive performances by Rebecca Reed and Laura Clark. Katelyn Vayan was tough on defense and in the goal. For the Stallions, Meaghan Brophy scored the lone goal. Christine Collins was great as goalie, Olivia Dillon was solid on defense and Kayla Buckley played a super all-around game.

Thunderfeet 2, Shooting Stars 0 – Sally Toms and Natalie Villa scored one goal apiece to lead the Thunderfeet to the win. Vanessa Richards, Marrissa Bobkowski and Julie Merhan played well on defense. For the Stars, Britney Pasko shut out the Thunderfeet for the first half. Megan Barbour and Tori Boushee had fine games.

Boys E

Nucleus 3, Blaze 1 – John Imbimbo scored two goals and Greg Campbell added one to lead the Nucleus to the win. Nick Pedalino was solid on defense and Ian Hripack was good on offense. For the Blaze, Joey Van Veen scored the goal while Andy Kelley, Josh Gilbert, and Michael Calderoni had strong performances.

Vipers 3, Silverhawks 3 – Ben Stoller, Chris Arnone and Bob Mascher scored to lead the Vipers. Alex Hooper played well on D. For the ‘Hawks, Kevin Dill, Robbie Beier and Chris Miller scored while Pete Kerns had an assist.

Kings 2, Supersonics 1 – Christian Savegh and Christopher Erikson scored the goals that lifted the Kings to the win. James Radcliffe anchored the defense with Thomas Capozziello playing well. For the Sonics, Max Eckert scored the lone goal. Pieter Martino, Ryan LeMay and Tyler Hanna had strong performances.

Tigersharks 3, Terminators 0 – The Woloszynski brothers (Alex and Kevin) were a virtual brick wall in goal, stopping all shots en route to the shutout victory on opening day. The ‘Sharks prevailed on the strength of two goals from Zach LeMien and a single tally from Thomas Healy. The Terminators were bolstered by Eric Samuelson in goal, Liam Ferguson’s heads-up midfield play, and Brian White’s all around hustle.

Girls E

Hawks 6, Cheetahs 1 – Celeste Cheung, Emma Iannini, and Jenny Van Veen scored two goals apiece to power the Hawks. Jenna Bonaccerso scored for the Cheetahs while Anna Bernath and Elizabeth Grimes played good defense.

Girls F

Hawks 2, Shockers 2 – Tyler Zingaro and Stephanie Raman each scored a goal and Hope McMorran played well to lead the Hawks. For the Shockers, Megan Meyer and Bridget Power each scored a goal and Emily Albrecht and Kate Fallon each played well on defense.

Killer Bees 3, Cheetah Champions 1 – Elisa Navarro and Lauren Sarna led the Killer Bees offense, scoring two goals each. Deanna Wildman and Lindsey Jagoe both played well. For the Cheetahs, Elizabeth Charish scored the goal. Ann Berming played well as goalie and Lyndsey Pearlman played great on offense.

Funky Monkeys 4, Nighthawks 0 – Samantha Wray scored two goals while Dana Bowers and Amanda Kloth scored one apiece to lead the Funky Monkeys to the win. Jessie McDonald played well. For the ‘Hawks, Danielle Genovese and Alicia Canaffiello played well in goal as Katie Burns and Nicole Davis had solid performances.

Boys F

Roadrunners 3, Rockets 2 – Sean Watkins scored two goals and Christian Mather added the tie-breaker to lead the Roadrunners to the win. Jeff Haylon and Timmy Vogelman made outstanding defensive plays. Phil Healy and Chase Hutchison each scored a goal for a very determined Rockets team. Trevor Connolly was strong on offense. Spencer Brindley was outstanding as goalie.

Bombers 2, Wolverines 2 – Jonah Muniz and Matt Villamana scored for the Bombers while Doug Miller and Tyler Coleman helped support the offense. Jonathan Witten added an assists. For the Wolverines, Tyler Roberts scored twice. Charlie Poarch and Kieran Basu provided some strong defense..

White Lightning 4, Nighthawks 1 – Stephen Conway scored all four goals to power the White Lightning. Nick Klein and Colin Reilly did a great job on offense and Brad Kretz was excellent on defense. Justin Adsitt-Weiner scored the goal for the Nighthawks with Timmy Kelly doing a great job as goalie.

MetroStars 3, Tornadoes 1 – Michael Schartenberg scored two and Noah Sock and Stephen Walsh added one each to lead the MetroStars to the win. Charlie Helgren was strong in the midfield. For the Tornadoes, Samuel Langdon scored while Matthew Rahtelli, Joseph Anastasi and Ricky Kerins played well.

Thunderbolts 4, Raging Rams 0 – Patrick Thornberg scored two goals while Fredrik Dean and Henry Summ scored one apiece to lead the Thunderbolts to the win. Eric Pisani played well. For the Rams, Kelsey Hughes, James Marusi and Michael Lally had solid performances.

Lightning Bolts 4, Monsters 4 – Connor Gallagher scored three goals and Dana DiNicola added one to lead the Bolts. Vivek Tedla and Matthew Austin had good games. For the Monsters, Francis Saraceni scored three times. Gabe Keogler added a goal and Michael Senf contributed an assist. Eric Fiore played well in goal.

Boys U11

Strikers 10, Torrington 2 – Eric Thornberg scored four goals while Dan Lynch and Ishan Tatake each scored a pair as the Strikers pounded Torrington in the season opener. Kyle Wildman and Kyle Moore added one goal apiece. Daniel Hufziger, James Truckle and Tony Vacaro supported the team well.

Girls U11

Roadrunners 3, Middlebury 0 – Emma Kingsley, KellyAnne Brophy and Caitlin Brophy scored the goals that led the Roadrunners past Middlebury. Casey Rutter made three saves for the shutout. Kelly O’Conner, Jill Jagoe, and Katie O’Dell controlled the midfield while Sarah Murtha wore down the opposition on offense.

Girls U12

Rampage 3, Litchfield 0 – The defending U12 Northwest District champs opened the 2004 season with a 3-0 win over U13 Litchfield. Jennifer Daily scored two goals and Sara Kelley added a solo. Laura Bittman and Taylor Smith registered assists. Goalie Katie Pessin made six saves to record her first shutout of the season while Ally Modzelewski, Hannah Basch-Gould, and Jordyn Good played well.
