Woman’s Club Says Thanks

To the Editor:

The members of the Newtown Woman’s Club, GFWC, Inc, want to extend thanks to the Newtown community for once again supporting their efforts during this past club year. Year after year, the Ways & Means Committee provide opportunities for fundraising, and through the efforts of the Finance Committee and members these profits are shared with local, state, and national organizations and agencies. Without the support of local residents, the Newtown Woman’s Club, GFWC, Inc, would not be recognized as one of the outstanding clubs in the General Federation of Women’s Clubs of Connecticut.

The final checks have been presented, and the total donations given were more than $11,000. Those organizations and agencies who benefited by the hard work of members are: Family Counseling, Newtown Ambulance, Kevin’s Community Center, Newtown Fire Departments, Women’s Center of Greater Danbury, Newtown Scholarship Association, Newtown FISH, Spay & Neuter of Newtown, Ann’s Place, KIND News, Books For Seniors, Health Fair Poster Contest (prize money), Police Station Beautification, Arthritis, CARE, Heifer Project International, Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership (HOBY), Special Olympics, Phipps Scholarship through GFWC/CT, GFWC Women’s Resource Center, Veterans, UNICEF, Pennies for Art, and Connecticut Community Care, Inc.

Thank you again Newtown for all of the support you give to our award-winning club.
