Garner Inmates Arrested On Criminal Charges
State police report two separate incidents involving inmate arrests at Garner Correctional Institution, the stateâs high-security prison on Nunnawauk Road.
State police said that on the night of March 28, Garner inmate Gene Hilton, 37, allegedly spit on a correction officer at the prison. After investigating, state police charged Hilton with assault on public safety personnel.
Hilton was scheduled for arraignment on the charge on March 31 in Danbury Superior Court.Â
Hilton is an unsentenced inmate being held in Garner on a pending charge of first-degree robbery, according to the state Department of Correction (DOC).
Also, early on the morning of March 23, two Garner inmates became involved in a fight in which each of the two was injured, state police said.
State police said they charged each man with third-degree assault. The inmates are Derek Myers, 28, and Michael Davis, 22, state police said.
Both men were scheduled for March 24 arraignments in Danbury Superior Court.
Myers is serving a 17-month sentence on a possession of narcotics conviction. Davis is an unsentenced inmate being held on a pending murder charge.
