Walter R.         Carey, Sr

Former Bee Pressman

Walter R. Carey, Sr, 83, of Bethlehem, died August 22 at his home, with his family by his side. He was the husband of Vita S. (Marchione) Carey. Mr Carey was born January 22, 1924, in Westport, son of Henry and Helen (Pelikan) Carey.

He was a veteran of the US Marine Corps serving during World War II. He worked at The Newtown Bee for many years as pressman. He was a member of the American Legion in Bethlehem, Post #146, and a Boy Scout volunteer. His hobbies included boating and fishing.

Besides his beloved wife, he is survived by two sons, Walter R. Carey, Jr, of Bethlehem and Thomas Edward Carey of Agerton, Mass.; a brother Henry Carey, Jr, of Watertown; grandchildren, Rebecca, Benjamin, Amanda, Leann and Ariel Carey; three great-grandchildren, Ashley, Isabella, and Matthew Carey; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Albert Carey, and a sister, Alice Carey.

All services are at the convenience of the family. The Woodbury Funeral Home of Munson-Lovetere, 2 School Street, is in charge of arrangements.
