Citizenship Classes Being Formed

SOUTHBURY — Are you interested in becoming a United States citizen?

Brownstein Jewish Family Service of The Federation: Jewish Communities of Western CT, Inc is offering free citizenship classes for anybody who is an eligible legal resident in the area. Classes will meet on Sundays from noon until 2 pm from September through April at the Walzer Family Jewish Community Campus, 444 Main Street North.

The classes will cover American history and civics as well as reading and writing skills, and books will be provided. Assistance in filling out applications will also be available.

Advantages of becoming a citizen include voting, being eligible to obtain federal jobs and benefits, and being able to file petitions for other family members to come to this country.
