To the Editor

As a resident of the Third District, I can heartily recommend Will Rodgers and Jeff Capeci for reelection to the Legislative Council. Will, a member of the council for several years, now serving as chairman, has demonstrated time and again his devotion to the Town of Newtown.

He has always been accessible to his constituents, both to listen and answer questions. Even while he was serving in Iraq, he kept in touch with us through e-mail. It amazed us that although he was serving his country in the midst of war, he remained profoundly interested in and concerned with activities in his hometown. Although married and father of a grown daughter, he told us that he wanted to volunteer because he wanted to free up a father of a young child.

Jeff, who has served one term on the council, has impressed us with his energy and dedication to the people of Newtown. An engineer by profession, he is extremely thorough and reasonable in his approach to issues. If you call Jeff and ask for any information, whether it regards the Board of Education or development of a town hall at Fairfield Hills, he will research the matter and get right back to you with answers. He is a team player and works effectively with other council members.

This year we also have the opportunity to vote for a newcomer Connie Widmann, who has come forward and expressed a desire to serve on the council and do her best job.

We in the Third District are truly fortunate to have three such excellent candidates.
