The Garden Club of Newtown will feature Sue Lavallee as the guest speaker during its next general meeting. The club will be meeting on Tuesday, January 25, at C.H. Booth Library, 25 Main Street in Newtown.
Ms Lavallee will be presenting a program called âAttracting Birds and Butterflies To Your Garden.â Second only to gardening, bird watching and feeding is the fastest-growing national pastime today. The program will cover plant selection, backyard habitats, supplemental feeding, lifecycles and migration.
Ms Lavallee is a garden center consultant, an organic gardener and an avid birder.
The meeting will be in the libraryâs first floor meeting room. Members will convene for lunch and a business meeting at noon, with Ms Lavalleeâs program to follow at 1 pm. Prospective members and the general public are invited to attend at no charge.

According the WPA, the Dodgingtown section of Newtown was âa crossroads hamlet named for the many drovers, horse-traders and peddlers `on the dodgeâ who congregated at the crossroad taverns.â
