Comedy And Dinner At Portuguese Cultural Center

DANBURY — Comedians Peter Bales and Melvin George II will perform at a dinner show on Friday, November 9, at the Portuguese Cultural Center, at 65 Sand Pit Road

Tickets are to be picked up and paid for at the door by cash or check only, but reservations are required. Call 470-7528 or send an e-mail to StageDoorCT@aol.com for reservations and additional information.

Stage Door Productions is presenting this night of entertainment beginning with a dinner buffet starting at 7 pm, and the comedy show will follow at 8:30.

The dinner-show package is $25 per person. The ample buffet will include dessert and coffee; there will be a cash bar. Doors will open at 6:30.

Melvin George’s credits include appearances on HBO, Showtime, Fox, A&E, and Carnegie Hall. A trained actor and director, Mr George has appeared in concert with such celebrated artists as Diana Ross, Patti LaBelle, Natalie Cole, Donna Summer and Gladys Knight to name just a few.  He has been seen in the films Mo’ Better Blues, Meteor Man and Behind the Smile.

Peter Bales has appeared as a stand-up comedian at countless comedy clubs, corporate functions, MTV, VH-1, FOX, A&E and Comedy Central. He has also hosted his own radio programs on New York City’s WABC (770 AM) and WEVD (1050 AM) in the 1980’s.

Dr Bales (he holds a PhD in history from SUNY/Stony Brook) directed The Laughter Company, which helped launch the careers of Rosie O’Donnell and Bob Nelson. Dr Bales is a member of the faculty of the Queensborough Community College of the City University of New York. He recently published a book, How Come They Always Had Battles in National Parks? a humorous yet entirely factual account of American history up through the Civil War.
