Comedy And Dinner

At Portuguese Cultural Center

DANBURY — Comedians Lenny Marcus and Tom Van Horn will perform at a dinner stand-up comedy show on Friday, May 16, at the Portuguese Cultural Center, 65 Sand Pit Road.

Stage Door Productions, the arts and entertainment committee of the cultural center, is presenting the night of entertainment beginning with a dinner-buffet from 6:30 to 8 pm, with the comedy to follow at 8:30. The dinner-show package is $25 per person. The dinner buffet includes dessert and coffee; there will be a cash bar.

Reservations are required. Tickets can be picked up and paid for at the door by cash or check only. For reservations or additional information call 470-7528 or send an email to StageDoorCT@aol.com.

Lenny Marcus has been a standup comedian in New York City for over 12 years. He has performed at both the prestigious Just For Laughs Comedy Festival in Montreal, Canada, and HBO’s US Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen, Colo. Additional credits include performances on NBC’s Friday Nite, NBC’s Comedy Showcase with Louie Anderson and MTV’s Jim Brewer Show.

He is the creator and costar of Superstar Talent, an online sitcom now in its second season. This past year, Mr Marcus wrote and coproduced a show for Comedy Central’s Motherload website called Crash Course in Comedy.  In addition, Mr Marcus has been seen in commercials for the MTV Video Movie Awards, Wendy’s and Marriott, and his voice has been featured on radio commercials for Southwestern Bell Telephone and Priceline.

Mr Marcus has also written for national publications such as Us Weekly magazine, Life and Style magazines, and is a contributing writer for DailyComedy.com. He has also released a CD, You’re Getting a Zero.

Tom Van Horn started performing standup back in 1993 after his girlfriend of nine years dumped him.  Having a lot of anger and bitterness and nowhere to vent it, he went to an open mic and spewed his feelings about his life to a room full of strangers.

Cut to 2006, by which time he had become a regular in the New York City comedy club circuit. Other credits include writing for the Friars Roasts and US Weekly magazine, as well as appearances in numerous TV commercials.
