Get A Taste Of Fox Hunting

The annual Frost on the Pumpkin Hunter Pace will be held Sunday, October 28, from 8 am to 12 noon, off Mount Nebo Road. Teams will leave every three minutes. Hunter Pacing is what fox hunting has evolved into. Racing across country with packs of dogs after fox use to be common place during the fall in Newtown, yet the sport still continues … in a kinder manner, of course. Hunter pacing simulates a fox hunt (minus the dogs and fox) as horse and rider must follow a pre-set course over all kinds of obstacles that a fox hunter might encounter. The goal is to complete the course in the optimum time – not the fastest, but the best time for the terrain and division you compete in.  Unique to the Newtown pace are the costumes worn by many riders (and their mounts). Come take a look on October 28.
