To the Editor:
Next Tuesday, the voters will render their decision on who they want to serve their town on our elective boards and commissions. There will be some veterans who will not rejoin the government. Whether it is Joe Borst or Paul Mangiafico who steps into his shoes, Bill Brimmerâs will be large ones to fill.
We will still enjoy, I hope, the services of Herb Rosenthal and Joe Bojnowski. I am sure they will forge the same kind of positive and collaborative relationship with the new members of our local government, that has won the votersâ approval five times before.
With the support of the voters of the second district, I will join the effort to come to grips with the challenges our town faces during this most difficult period in its development.
For my part, I intend to continue to reach out to the voters and taxpayers of Newtown, particularly our seniors. Iâll look beyond our borders for solutions to problems whose resolution is beyond local and individual control. And when we differ, Iâll be looking for a path to common ground with my opponents.
The proposals and commitments Iâve offered are not quick fixes. They are attempts to refocus our conversation to begin to understand and address our challenges at their source, so we can provide a sustainable set of services, meet our obligations to our children, keep our bond rating high, and take the pressure off our seniors.
When the voters of the second district go to the polls on Tuesday, please cast your vote to give me that opportunity.
Sincerely,
Chris McArdle
Candidate for Legislative Council
Second District
