To the Editor:
As a resident of the 2nd District, I am supporting Republican candidate Barbara Bloom without reservation. Barbaraâs dedication to the town she was born and raised in is obvious to all who know her.
I know Barbara as a friend, a caring person and fellow Republican Town Committee member. She has many qualities that make her an excellent choice to serve our town on the Legislative Council. She holds a BS degree in math from UConn, has worked in the insurance and investment-planning field, and is currently employed by the Danbury Nurses Registry.
She is a tireless worker, often lending her expertise wherever the need is greatest, whether in the community or Newtown United Methodist Church, where she serves on the Stewardship Committee and Endowment Committee. She currently serves on the Newtown Pension Committee and as secretary/treasurer for the Zoar Cemetery Association. She is also active in the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 935 in Bethel.
As parents of a teenage son, Barbara and her husband, Dennis, are deeply concerned that Newtown children receive the best education possible. Barbara is currently a member of the Prevention Council, which helps educate children on how to make good decisions regarding drinking and drugs.
Barbara is known for informing herself on issues and brings a logical, practical approach to town matters. To Barbara, sound fiscal responsibility means you donât spend money you donât have. She will bring a strong dose of common sense to the council and will not hesitate to speak her mind about what she believes is best for our town.
I would feel very comfortable having Barbara represent us on the Legislative Council. I hope you will join me in voting for Barbara Bloom on November 6.
Sincerely,
Robin Buchanan
