For Mitten Tree Project

For the eighth year, police will display their “Mitten Tree” at the police station in their drive to collect new clothing items for the local needy.

The Mitten Tree is a Christmas tree located in the police station’s lobby at 3 Main Street. Residents are asked to bring donations of new mittens, hats, and scarves, which they may leave at the tree for distribution to the needy by the town’s social services department.

Donations of new apparel will be accepted until January 1. The lobby is open to the public around the clock, seven days a week.

Since the Mitten Tree program began, police have collected hundreds of new clothing items for the needy.
