Josephine S. Zor

Josephine “Josi” Sencar Zor, adored mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, aunt, and friend, died in her home on November 16 surrounded by loved ones.

She was the mother of Mark Anderson of Sandy Hook and Kathy Whaley of Newtown.

Mrs Zor was born on August 16, 1936, and came to the United States in 1951. A beautiful woman in every way, she touched everyone who knew her with her humor and joy of life. She worked as a home health aide during the last eight years of her life and was well loved by the patients she cared for. Mrs Zor was able to devote the last nine years to her lifelong passion for painting and sculpture, leaving many wonderful fruits of her labor.

She is also survived by another son, John Zor of Bethel; her mother, Manda Bodnar of Fairfield; a brother, Anton Brozevic; three sisters, Jasna Kehler, Lilian Kukulj, and Wilma Swanson; nine grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Petar Zor.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial was held November 20 in Holy Cross Church, Fairfield. Interment was in Resurrection Cemetery, Newtown.

The Redgate-Hennessy Funeral Home, Main Street and Gorham Place, Trumbull was in charge of arrangements.
