A Gift Of Thanks
A Gift Of Thanks

It is the season of giving and evidence of that is found on the road to Ashlar of Newtown. More than 20 holiday wreaths are decking the walkways and driveway of Ashlar of Newtown off of Toddy Hill Road this holiday season, thanks to Newtown resident David Jurman. Mr Jurman has donated the wreaths to the health care facility as a way of saying, âThanks!â
âAshlar has taken care of my mother, Jeannette Jurman, a couple of times when she needed short-term rehabilitation and physical therapy,â said Mr Jurman. âFor the last three of four years, Iâve donated several wreaths for them to use on the posts going up and down the driveway and the exterior of the building. Itâs just a way to let them know we appreciate their good care.â
âAshlar does get donations throughout the year from various people,â said Ashlar marketing and communications manager Gina Malgieri, âbut generally not from the same person year after year. We are getting to really look forward to Mr Jurmanâs wreath donation each year. Itâs so nice of him to do this.â
Mr Jurmanâs good deed benefits not only Ashlar residents and the visitors and staff who get to enjoy the decorated wreaths, but also Boy Scout Troop 270, of which Mr Jurman is assistant Scout leader. âThe wreath sale is the biggest fundraiser of the year for our troop,â said Mr Jurman, so he is more than happy to support the boys.
âItâs a great way to thank us, and we do appreciate it,â Ms Malgieri said.
