Dinner Dance Goes Country
The Newtown Chamber of Commerce will host its Annual Meeting and Dinner Dance on January 12, at the Heritage Resort and Conference Center in Southbury. The evening will begin at 7 pm with cocktails and a silent auction. The annual meeting commences at 8 pm with dinner and dancing to follow. Formal attire is recommended.
Carried through from Destination Newtown, the theme of Newtownâs Country will be demonstrated throughout the evening. An array of silent auction items will also be offered, including:
*Luxury box seats for a New England Patriots game from Curtis Packaging
*A dental gift basket with a SoniCare toothbrush from Dental Associates
*A gift basket from Union Savings Bank
*A gift basket from Ashlar of Newtown
*Gift certificates from Berkshire Motors
*A gift certificate from Newtown Florist
Following a brief update of the activities underway for the year, the membership will vote for the newly proposed board members. The 2008 slate of officers includes Peter Giarratano for president, Ann Marie Deweese for vice president, Carole Georges for secretary, and Peggy Velthuizen for treasurer.
Returning board members include Pat Linnell (two years), Maureen Birden (three years), Pauline Crisci-Goncalves (one year), Marie Dupree (one year), Jim Gulalo (two years), Tom Gutner (two years), Mike Neiman (three years), Bill Peck (two years), Anne Ragusa (two years), John Sarra (one year), Don Sharpe (two years), and Janet Woycik (two years).
The Chamber Annual Dinner committee includes Pat Linnell of Keller Williams Realty, Pauline Crisci-Goncalves of Excel Tutoring, LLC, Bill Peck of Curtis Packaging, and Peggy Velthuizen of Union Savings Bank.
The event is an ideal opportunity to renew existing chamber ties, and for local business professionals looking to join the chamber, and benefit from its many networking activities.
