NYS Summer Programs
Back by popular demand:
âNATURE DETECTIVESâ and âTHE GREAT OUTDOORSâ nature programs at Cullens Memorial, June 26-30. For children entering graded K-2 (9-10:30 am ) and 3-5 (10:45-12:15pm). This yearâs program will focus on Life Cycles (water, seeds, animals, and more!) Fee: $25 for the week.
SPORTS+
For the week of June 19-23, explore a different sport each session (soccer, basketball, flag football, kayak racing, crazy water and field sports, swimming, and more.) Time: 6-7:30 pm, Dickenson Park. Fee: $35 for all five sessions. Limit: 12. Open to all students entering grades 6-8.
Job Bank
Spring has finally arrived and summer is almost here. Now is a great time to register with the Job Bank. New jobs are called in daily. So, if you are looking for a part-time or full-time job, NYS may be able to assist you in your search. The NYS Job Bank is open to students 13 to 17. Application forms are available at the office. CELEBRATE YOUTH MONTH
GAIL SMITH AND OUTSTANDING YOUTH AWARDS
Newtown Youth Services, Inc., is holding its Annual Meeting and Gail smith Awards Ceremony at 7:00 pm on Monday, May 22, in the Memorial Room of the Congregational Church House at 41A Main Street, Newtown. Open to the public, this yearâs guest speaker is Ed Meincke, Director of Glastonbury Youth Services and the first president and initiator of the Connecticut Youth Services Association (CYSA). He began working for Glastonbury Youth and Family Services in December 1970, when that agency was the first youth service bureau in the state of Connecticut. Edâs topic will be âYouth Services â Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow.â
Outstanding Youth awards are set for 4 pm on May 25. Approximately 40 young men and women will be honored.
Youth Group Meetings:
The High School Youth Advisory Board (HS YAB) and the Middle School Youth Advisory Board (MS YAB) have finished their meetings for the year.
If you are interested in joining one of these groups please call the NYS office.
NYCAAP â will meet on Tuesday, May 23, at 5:30 pm.
