BROOKFIELD - Brookfield Craft Center is offering a series of free public forums entitled "The Craft Continuum" this spring.
BROOKFIELD â Brookfield Craft Center is offering a series of free public forums entitled âThe Craft Continuumâ this spring.
On Wednesday, April 30, from 6 to 8 pm, Barbara Allen, a noted multi-media artist from Sandy Hook, will give a slide show and lecture on her travel to Ghana and her work with university trained and indigenous potters and sculptors as well the products they developed for export. She will also share her many experiences working on projects with school children.
Ms Allen is a longtime faculty member at the craft center who teaches ceramics and mixed media subjects. She will also present images of her own work for discussion.
Designed to connect local artists with the general public, the new monthly lecture series is held in BCCâs circa 1780 restored grist mill building at 286 Whisconier Road (Route 25).
According to Education Director Kristin Muller, who created the series, ââThe Craft Continuumâ provides a chance for artists associated with our school to share their art and its influences with other artists and the general public in a relaxed casual setting. Our goal is to bring together our creative community to exchange ideas and foster growth in the culture of fine craftsmanship.â
Refreshments will be served, and attendees are encouraged to bring treats to share with the group.
