Wednesday Poetry Series On Winter Hiatus

Wednesday Night Poetry Series — the longest running weekly poetry reading series in the history of Connecticut — is taking a winter hiatus.

The Wednesday Night Poetry Series ended its 2011 program with a Chapbook Panel Discussion, “Putting Together Your Poetry Collection,” on Wednesday, December 14. The panel featured Brad Davis, Claire Zoghb, Leslie McGrath, and series creator Faith Vicinanza.

The weekly series currently meets at The Garage (Newtown’s teen center), 53 Church Hill Road in Newtown.

An open mic launches each weeks session at 7:30, followed by the featured poet or program at 8:45. A poetry editing workshop usually follows the guest speaker. Yvon Cormier is scheduled as the guest poet for December 7.

Organizers expect to begin programs again on March 7, 2012, the first Wednesday of that month. Programming, venue, and other details will be forthcoming soon.
