Girl Scouts Volunteer Opportunities Available For All Interests
Girls Scouts of Connecticut is looking for adults to share their time, skills, and life experiences as a Girl Scout volunteer. Adults who are fun, enthusiastic, a good role model and would like to help girls grow strong while making the community a better place are encouraged to contact Girl Scouts. Even if you can spare only a couple hours a month, donât hesitate to call.
For more than 95 years, the Girl Scout organization has relied greatly on volunteers, women and men who commit their time and talent on a short-term or long-term basis to promote the Girl Scout program and make a real difference in a girlâs life. Â
Most girls belong to troops that have volunteer leaders. Girl Scouts of Connecticut provides training for adults interested in becoming a troop leader or an assistant leader. What many people do not realize is that there are also other opportunities available for volunteers in short-term, episodic capacity. The opportunities are endless. Volunteers will be asked to complete an application and provide three references.
Adults with special skills or interests such as music, crafts, dance, language, physical fitness, money management, photography or technology can share their talents as a program consultant, workshop facilitator, camp counselor, or event photographer. Those who can keep good records or like to speak to people on the phone can volunteer to be a product sales manager, troop recruiter, or records manager. Adults who like meeting different people and/or are good public speakers might consider volunteering as a public relations representative. Such volunteer work not only benefits the Girl Scouts, but also serve as resume-builders for the adults who donate their time.
Through Girl Scouting, girls can discover their personal best and prepare for a positive future, connect with others in an increasingly diverse world, and take action to solve problems and improve their communities. The Girl Scout foundation empowers and encourages girls to take action by identifying issues and problems that they care about, and advocating for themselves and others.
Girl Scouting guides girls into becoming responsible, productive adults who make a difference in the lives of their families, schools, and communities. Girl Scout volunteers help make that happen.
Adult role models are being sought for one-time and ongoing commitments to support the Girl Scout mission of building girls of courage, confidence, and character who make the world a better place. For additional information contact Girl Scouts of Connecticut at 800-922-2770 or GSofCT.org.
