Local Lacrosse All-Stars Reunite On The Field

In a reunion of sorts, five former Newtown CONNY Lacrosse teammates teamed up as Connecticut High School Senior All-Stars on June 9. The tilt was their last high school-level game before moving up to play men’s lacrosse at four colleges across the Northeast.

Newtown’s Will Mahony (Union College, NY) and Conor Martin (Cabrini College, Penn.), Notre Dame-Fairfield’s Joe Banno (Haverford College, Penn.) and Masuk’s Ned Emerson and Derek Flynn (Quinnipiac University) all played together in 2004 and reunited on the field as members of the All-Star’s West team which took on the Team South All-Stars. The West team also included athletes from New Milford, Cheshire, Barlow, Amity, Brookfield,

Hamden, Pomperaug, Notre Dame-West Haven, Shelton and Bunnell. Team South was comprised of players from Darien, Ridgefield, New Canaan, Wilton, Brien McMahon, St. Joseph and Fairfield Ludlowe.

The event was sponsored by the Connecticut High School Coaches Association.

Mahony had a goal and an assist and Martin recorded four ground balls and played stellar defense despite a 13-4 win for the South.
