The Bethel Station Is Open
The Bethel Station Is Open
To the Editor:
Thanks in a large part to the efforts on our behalf by Herb Rosenthal, the railroad station in Bethel is open.
Apparently, the good news is that there is a coffee shop in Bethel that intends to open a stand inside the building.
The bad news is that two such endeavors have failed in the past.
In a letter I received from Ruby K. Johnson, she suggests that we contact our local state representative, Julia Wasserman, and our state senator, John McKinney, seeking their aid in finding a more concrete solution.
I am writing to both of them and urge you to do the same. Ms Wasserman lives on Walnut Hill Road and John McKinney can be emailed via the Connecticut Legislature, Senate.
Ms Johnson also mentioned that Jonathan Chew, executive secretary of the Housatonic Valley Council of Elected Officials, might advise us about the findings of the committee formed by the State Department of Transportation. The purpose of the committee is to study traffic in our area. Ms Johnson suggests that some of us, as commuters, volunteer to serve on the committee.
Hopefully, The Bee will take an interest in the situation and keep us advised as to what the future holds.
Sincerely,
Richard J. Cole
