John B. Egee, Jr

John B. Egee, Jr, the beloved husband of 40 years of Doris (De De) Dickinson Egee, passed away at the age of 63 after a courageous battle with cancer. He died at home surrounded by his family on Sunday, March 23.

The son of the late Dr J. Benton and Gladys Egee, longtime residents of Newtown, John was born in Bridgeport, and grew up in Newtown. He graduated from Newtown High School and Paul Smith College in Lake Placid, N.Y., and served in the United States Air Force for four years.

 In 1971 John and De settled in Becket, Mass., where he was a self-employed contractor and salesman. He had a lifetime passion for sailing. John and his family are members of the First Congregational Church of Becket. He was past master of the Evening Star Lodge of Lee, Mass.

Along with his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Danielle D. Egee of Dalton, Mass.; two granddaughters, Shelby and Taylor; his son, J. Benton Egee III and his wife, Kirsten, of Becket, Mass.; a sister, Elaine and her husband, Peter W. Pratt, MD, of Bridgewater; a brother, David Egee and his wife, Dale, of London, England; a sister, Leslie and her husband, Donald Woolery, of Glenwood, Minn.; and a brother, Paul Egee of Southbury; as well as many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, May 3, 1 pm at the First Congregational Church, YMCA Road, Becket, Mass. Memorial contributions may be made to Danbury Hospital, 11th floor Oncology, 24 Hospital Avenue, Danbury, CT 06810.
