Girl Scouts Holding Main Street Halloween Candy Drive

Hawley Girl Scout Troops 891 and 599 are sponsoring a Halloween candy drive for Main Street families, who anticipate more than 2,000 trick-or-treaters visiting their homes this year.

Each year, hundreds of families from Newtown and surrounding towns choose to Trick or Treat on picturesque Main Street where residents decorate their homes for the holiday. Being prepared with treats for this number of youngsters can add up quickly.

A box will be set up on the front porch at 54 Main Street (the beige Victorian across the street from Edmond Town Hall) until Sunday, October 28, where donations can be dropped off.

Donations of individually-wrapped candy and/or nonedible treats will be dispersed to participating families.
