Dedication Kept Float Moving

To the Editor:

Middle Gate Elementary School had another great showing in this year’s Labor Day Parade! Once again, our float looked spectacular, the children were enthusiastic, and the parents were so helpful! And, of course, we had our guest of honor marching with us — Nurse Nancy.

I’d like to thank everyone who helped make the parade a success for our school. I’d like to thank Gilbertie’s Herb Farm and the Vodola family for once again storing our float all year. A big thank you goes out to Jan, Chris, and Joe from Executive Lawn Maintenance and Landscaping for transporting the float from the farm to Newtown (and back again), for driving in the parade, for wearing the eagle costume, and for providing so much support overall.

I’d also like to thank Debbie Sullivan and Daisy troop 50166 for all of their help getting ready, decorating the float, and marching with us.

To all the Middle Gate parents who were there — we could not have done it without you! You showed up early to help decorate, you helped keep everyone busy while we were waiting to march, and you marched so that your children could be a part of the parade. Thank you!

A huge thank you goes out to the parent(s) who built our float. It is a beautiful replica of the Little Red Schoolhouse, and it makes Middle Gate look great in the parade year after year.

Last, but certainly not least, I’d like to thank Nurse Nancy, not only for being at the parade, but for always being there to help our children. We dedicated our float to you, but you dedicate your time and energy to keeping our children safe and healthy every day. For that we are most grateful!
