Danbury Hospital To Sponsor Family Health & Safety Fair At The Mall
DANBURY â Danbury Hospital will conduct a Family Health & Safety Fair at the Danbury Fair Mall on Friday and Saturday, October 1 and 2. The health fair will be conducted on the mallâs lower level from noon to 8 pm both days.
The Family Health & Safety Fair features health education on cancer detection and prevention programs sponsored by The Praxair Cancer Center at Danbury Hospital in cooperation with the American Cancer Society. Screenings to be conducted include blood pressures, pulmonary function screening, fall prevention/balance screening, cholesterol and glucose screening ($10 fee will be charged), Dermascan (skin) screening and blood pressure screening.
Partners in Health, a multicommunity collaborative working together to improve health and well being, will promote healthy physical activity.
Education and information also will be provided regarding weight loss surgery, sleep disorders, and nutrition for disease prevention. Patient billing and insurance coverage questions will be answered by staff from the Danbury Office of Physician Services central billing office. The Danbury Hospital Horblitt Health Sciences Library staff also will be available to explain how to locate reliable health information online.
There also will be information regarding womenâs health, newborn and pediatric care, breastfeeding and formula feeding, and an opportunity to meet the labor support staff affiliated with the Danbury Hospital Doula Program. The Family Birth Center staff also will be on-site to answer any questions regarding pregnancy and prepregnancy planning.
Also participating at the Danbury Hospital Family Health & Safety Fair will be the Danbury Visiting Nurse Association offering flu shots, Regional Hospice of Western Connecticut and the Healing Hearts Center with information about hospice, support group programs and volunteer opportunities. The Endocrine and Diabetes Center will offer information about ways to âAce Your Diabetes,â and the Connecticut Region Blood Services-American Red Cross will actively recruit blood donors for upcoming community blood drives.
And, especially for kids, an ambulance will be on-site for inspection courtesy of Danbury Health Systems Emergency Medical Services and Prudential Financial will sponsor a free âI.D. A Kidâ fingerprints program.
