Deep Meditation: Its Joy & Benefit

WOODBURY — Woodbury Yoga Center will host a free Sunday evening program on January 30 with Janaki Pierson, co-founder and executive director/CEO of the center. The program will begin at 6:45.

In “Reflections On India: Yoga and Spiritual Practices in The Motherland,” Ms Pierson will discuss her recent trip to India, where she spent the last six weeks with devoted local spiritual aspirants and Anandi Ma as she oversaw the construction of her community and offered spiritual and social service programs.

Ms Pierson will share how during her stay at the ashram, on the banks of the holy Narmada River, she had many long and deep meditations. The evening’s focus will be on how anyone may deepen his or her meditation and spiritual practices to glimpse this stillness and ultimately remain rooted in it.

Ms Pierson has been teaching meditation for over 20 years and has been established in her own daily practice for 29 years.  She teaches extensively throughout New England in medical, educational, corporate, and community settings.

The program is open to the public. After the celebration, there will be a silent group meditation and an informal tea. Free meditation instruction will be available for anyone who would like guidance.
