For Black History Month
DANBURY â The Danbury Libraryâs Junior Department invites all children in grades K-5 and their parents to celebrate Black History Month with Yohuru Ralph Williams on Saturday, February 19, from 1 to 2:30 pm.
Mr Williams is a professional musician, visual artist and community educator. He has been specially trained as a Connecticut Commission on the Arts Master Teaching Artist to work with groups of children in a variety of settings.
His background includes over ten yearsâ teaching experience in percussion to students from elementary to college level and the composition and recording of soundtracks for filmstrips that accompany childrenâs books, including Brother to the Wind, a National Library Award winner.
On Saturday afternoon, children will learn about African music history, listen to rhythmic storytelling adventures and create and perform on their own musical instruments.
Registration is required by either visiting the Junior Library Information Desk or calling 797-4528. The library is at 170 Main Street.
Snow date will be the following weekend, on Saturday, February 26, from 1 to 2:30 pm. Call the library in the event of inclement weather.
